I’m hanging with my friends Delta Spirit after they played an awesome show. We are sitting in their trailer when someone tells us that it is going to rain and we should probably just stay in the trailer till it passes. Inside the trailer we have two bottles of Jack, a couple of apples, and a bag of pop chips…so I figure we can probably survive here for like two days.
But then security comes and tells us that there is going to be a huge storm and that they are going to evacuate the whole park. All 90,000 people here are going to mass exodus!! So now this is chaos. This is a matter of festival survival.

It’s good I’m hanging with the band because they put us on a golf cart and whisk us to safety. I feel half like a jerk as we speed pass the crowd with the driver shouting “get out of the way,” but the other half of me is just really freaking grateful to be on this golf cart and away from the mob scene.

I was supposed to interview Bear In Heaven today and it’s too bad that it’s not going to happen now because I really like their new album. I wonder what the would have been like to talk too. I wonder if they like reading…I always pictured those dudes as being well read. I’m suddenly annoyed with this rain.
.
But back at the hotel, everyone is hanging out and bonding. We are survivors…the ones who got out. There are several high fives. Kids are getting soaked in the street and screaming “USA” for no real reason.

In a couple hours, they’ll open the festival again. You can only stop Rock and Roll for so long.

UPDATE: The festival has re-opened and resumed performances.
