Jessie J is the latest artist to be hit with a copyright infringement suit over claims that she stole a large portion of her smash “Domino” from another artist. Now, she may have to head to court to contest the charges..
You may recall that earlier this year Will Loomis of Loomis & The Lust uploaded a video onto YouTube that compared parts of his 2008 song “Bright Red Chords” to James’ 2011 hit “Domino.” Loomis is taking legal action against the U.K. pop queen.
.
“Mr. Loomis never consented to the use of his song,” the accuser’s lawyer, Chris Arledge, wrote in a statement, adding, “We look forward to obtaining an appropriate remedy from the court for this clear infringement.” The suit is directed at Jessie J as well as her labels: Universal Music Group, Lava Records and Universal Republic Records.
.
Of course, this is nothing new for pop artists. In recent years everyone from 50 Cent to Rihanna have had similar issues. Listen to both songs below and then let us know what you think in the comments section. The jury of your peers awaits your decision!
