Along with 2562, Martyn (Martijn Deykers) is the most recognizable face of the Dutch dubstep scene.
He first made an impression in 2005 with a couple of singles that earned him immediate underground applause for the way he seemingly managed to integrate both techno and jungle/drum'n'bass techniques into the then-fledgling sounds of dubstep. Further singles and a relentless DJ schedule only added to his increasing profile, culminating with the release of his critically lauded debut album Great Lengths in 2009. He contributed to the Fabric DJ-mix series for its 50th volume, released the following year. After that, he joined the roster of Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label, where he released Ghost People in 2011. For his third album, he moved to Ninja Tune and issued The Air Between Words three years later. By that point, he had amassed a considerable quantity of remix productions for the likes of Flying Lotus, Appleblim, Fever Ray, Santiago Salazar, and Modeselektor. ~ Ricardo Rainho
