Who says they donʼt like Mondays....This last Monday we had the honor and extreme artistic satisfaction to work with American Indian, Poet/Activist/Soldier and musician John Trudell. A very cool, humble, wise soul of a human who has seen more than his share of injustice.Yet he still has a good sense of humor, and a warm heart. He came dow...n to Studio A at Hensonʼs Studios, (formerly A&M Records), in the same room where they recorded" We Are the World" ). John laid down some eloquent,powerful, right on the target spoken word over one of Shadowtrainʼs new songs entitled "Trail Of Tears". The Paiute "Coyote Singers" From Big Pine CA. join in on the chorus as well as lead singer Greg Analla. Its pretty amazing.
We would really like to thank Faryal Russell for getting that amazing studio for us and Tom Swaorski who did the great job engineering. After filming a round table discussion with John; George ,Mark and I packed up all the movie gear and rushed from Hollywood, to Burbank ,to North Hollywood, picking up all the new instruments for Music Is Medicine.
This Weds. we will be donating brand new Instruments to M.I.M. at The Navaho Nation Museum in Window Rock ,AZ. Electric and acoustics guitars, and an electric bass, all in cases, donated by ESP Guitars, Thanks to Matt Masciandaro for those. Randal Amps courtesy of Joe Delany and Joey Osisek. Yamaha Drums from Ken Dapron &Greg Crane. Kirsten Matt got us some Zildjian Cymbals. Allen Moreno, Larry Martin and Chris Lisee from Tour Supply helped with accessories and contacts.Thanks to all of you!!!!! After donating the instruments we all will do music workshops with the kids. We are really looking forward to this.
On this Saturday the 21st of July Shadowrtain will be doing a benefit concert for
M.I.Mʼs summer music camp at Tinaja on hwy 53 , just east of El Morro State Park, in New Mexico. It is an all day affair with lots of music, pow wow dancers ,food ,culture and good summer vibes.Bring your camping gear if you want to stay the night. Lots of other adventures between now and then!!!!
We will catch up with you from the road and give you an update on what they turn out to be.
