The Compound Foundation

The mission of The Compound Foundation is to increase awareness about the status of children in the child welfare system in America and to support and partner with residential care facilities through programs aimed at teaching entrepreneurship and life skills that will empower them to become productive, successful, independent adults.

We envision an American society where children in the child welfare system are safe, nurtured, and supported. Ne-Yo, international music superstar, will leverage his celebrity status to bring awareness and resources to the cause of improving the quality of life of children in the child welfare system. Middle and high-school aged youth living in residential care facilities who engage in our youth entrepreneurship program will emerge from the child welfare system with resources, skills, and funding they will use to take the next productive steps in their lives. The residential care facilities that we establish will be models of excellence and creativity that employ best practices and utilize the best available resources for children in the child welfare system.

The Compound Foundation, Inc. was founded in 2007 by music superstar Ne-Yo and his manager and Compound Entertainment business partner Tango Hay. Tango, the street savvy business man who discovered and nurtured Ne-Yo’s talent into a successful entertainment business empire, has roots in the group home environment and has always desired to utilize his success to uplift children and youth in the child welfare system. Ne-Yo’s personal story of having his talent discovered, literally on the streets of LA, and transformed into international stardom and personal wealth motivates him to want to make sure that the opportunity to do the same is made available to as many young people as possible, especially those whose misfortunes require them to grow up in the child welfare system.

The organization is managed by Nina Packer & Associates, LLC, a nonprofit management & consulting firm specializing in youth related celebrity charities.
